In 2005, Detroit ranked as the United States's 11th most populous city, with 886,675 residents; this number is less than half the peak population in 1950, and Detroit is among the leaders in the nation in terms of declining urban population over the past fifty years. It is the focal city of the nation's tenth-largest metropolitan area.
Detroit's crime rate has brought it notoriety, while the city continues to struggle with the burdens of racial disharmony between itself and its suburban neighbors. The city has experienced budget shortfalls, leading to cuts in city services. Nevertheless, Detroit is currently experiencing a downtown revival with the construction of the Compuware headquarters, a recently renovated Renaissance Center, three gambling casinos, new stadiums and the Detroit Riverwalk. The city serves as an entertainment hub for the metropolitan region.
If
you are moving to Michigan you will probably need to know answers to
questions like the following:
What is the right amount of coverage for me?
This is a very difficult question to answer without first sitting down with
each of our clients and asking them several questions about your situation,
assets you are trying to protect and exposures you currently have. Remember
that every situation is different.
How can I lower my premiums?
There are several ways to lower your premiums, some of them include
increasing your deductibles, adding a preferred provider option to you auto
coverage, placing your home and auto coverage with the same company,
carpool, good student and safe driver discounts. Whatever your situation, we
will inform you of every discount available to meet your needs and save you
as much money as possible.
Should I carry full coverage on my auto?
The easiest way to answer this is to ask yourself, if my car disappeared
today would I need the money from my insurance company to replace it. If the
answer to this questions is “yes” then you do need full coverage.
What Do I Do If I Have a Claim?
As an Independent Agent we will help you with the claims process. At 1st
Michigan Insurance we prefer that you contact us with the first report of
claim and we can then help you throughout the process. However if you
prefer, most of the companies we represent do have toll free numbers and you
